UV sterilization & filtration systems
UV sterilization produced from LED globes treats micro-biologically unsafe water with germicidal ultraviolet light. The UV wavelength scrambles the DNA of living organisms in the water, so they can no longer reproduce and harm you.. If you drink bacteria-infested water, the organisms can embed in your digestive tract and replicate. Ultraviolet radiation renders bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi unable to replicate by damaging the nucleic acids of their DNA. Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the most common bacteria found in rain water tanks, created from the droppings of birds, possums and other animals on the roof of your house.
Filtration systems are used to remove particle and chemical hazards from your drinking water such as arsenic, nitrate, asbestos, lead, and copper, as well as emerging contaminants such pesticides and fluorine-based compounds such as PFAS (poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances)
Tank dosing
Water collection tanks require regular dosing to reduce harmful bacteria and fungi from breading and overloading the filtration system, dosing consist of adding the appropriate amount of biocide (Clorine or biametersulphate ) to a full tank and recirculating the water through a portable filtration system, killing of and removing current bacteria contamination and preventing future bacteria and fungi blooms.
Laboratory and field testing
Enviro Desalinators can supply a field test kit consisting of a small transit esky, sampling containers, instructional document and lab process form for those that want to do their own sampling or conduct the sampling for you, once samples are taken we deliver by refrigerated transport to our Perth based Labotory, results take about 3 to 5 days. Once water analyst has be conducted, we use the data to design a system to meet your water needs.
WHY SHOULD YOU STERILIZE AND FILTER YOUR WATERTANKS?
In most farms the drinking water is obtained by rainfall, collected from roofs and stored in a water tanks, then pumped directly to homestead. But is it actually safe to drink it straight from the tank?
Rainwater storage tanks can become contaminated by a range of sources, including industrial pollutants, dust, leaves, pollen, pesticide sprays, fertilizers, debris, vermin, birds, small animals, mosquitoes, and other insects in providing breeding sites for bacteria, viruses and poisoning from chemicals and heavy metals.
This is why maintaining a healthy source of water is critical and can start simply from maintaining the roof, gutters and down pipes, checking that the mesh screen at top of tank is in good condition and that pipe work and pumps have an unrestricted supply run without restrictions or u-bends.
To prevent the many health issues related to collecting and storing rain water Enviro Desalinators provide laboratory & field testing, filtration systems, uv sterilization & tank dosing; all tailored to meet the homestead needs.
